After a decade working as a journalist and then five years at home raising children, I made a career change in January 2003 when I became an aide to District 1 Councilman Tom Dernoga. I was Tom's liaison to the 18 public schools in District 1, and got to know principals, PTA's, parents and students and the everyday challenges they faced. When today's elected school board replaced the appointed board, I moved to Annapolis in July 2007 to work as an aide for District 21 Delegate Joseline Pena-Melnyk. A very large part of everything I know about good government, I have learned from Tom and Joseline, so it was an honor to have them endorse me at my June 2009 campaign kickoff. Learn more about my work for Tom and Joseline and why I want to continue making Prince George's a great place to live and raise a family.
